Rapid Reading
Posted by in Rapid ReadingWhether for enjoyment or as part of our every day work, we spend a large amount of time reading. Imagine being able to read four times as fast as you do now, with greater comprehension. I, for one, do spend a lot of time reading, and here is a sample of the things I read:
- a book at bedtime
- voluminous documentation at work
- impenetrable forms I have to fill in (e.g. application forms)
- lots of material on websites I surf
I would guess that I read for a total of around 20 hours each week, with my work having the greatest demand for reading. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to realise that if you are currently reading for 20 hours a week, you can easily cut that down to a mere 5 hours. That frees up 15 whole hours every week.
I would love it if someone handed me 15 hours a week of spare time!
Well, that’s my quest at the moment. I recently bought Breakthrough Rapid Reading from Amazon and started it yesterday. The book boasts that it can help us speed up our reading, improve our comprehension and increase retention of what we’ve read. That is an exciting proposition because 15 hours a week saved, means 32 days a year. That’s like a whole year’s extra holiday entitlement from their jobs for most people.
I’ll keep you posted with my results.
